Solidarity with Ukraine - the FRM stands with the PAUSE program
Created in 2017, the PAUSE program (National Program for the Emergency Reception of Scientists and Artists in Exile) was created on the initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research with the ambition of protecting researchers and artists deprived of the freedom to exercise their profession in their country of origin and forced into exile in order to enable them to continue their work, by welcoming them to higher education and/or research establishments as well as cultural institutions in France.
Just a few days after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, the PAUSE program launched a special device in support of Ukrainian researchers, via the launch of a special emergency fund: a device allowing researchers to sheltered in France for 3 months, while maintaining research activity.
By committing up to 50,000 euros, the FRM allows 7 Ukrainian researchers and their families to benefit from a 3-month allowance including their reception in a laboratory already supported by the FRM, as well as a housing allowance. if necessary.
A meaningful partnership, for which the FRM was guided by the desire to play its full part in solidarity initiatives for the benefit of populations directly affected by the conflict: by helping to preserve the lives of researchers in exile and that of their families .
Nataliia Naumova arrived in France on March 11, 2022, she is currently working on chemoresistance in pediatric cancers within Catherine Brenner's team, thanks to the PAUSE Program supported by the FRM.
